Layn Wildfire is currently hiring for the 2025 fire season with bases in Kelowna and Victoria.
If you are a newly certified faller in your first 2 years, you can apply to be a Faller on a Type 2 Fire Crew. To be a contract faller you must have at a minimum 2 years’ experience falling to qualify. Type 2 Fire Crews are an experienced fire crew that consists of 4 people. 1 Crew Lead and 3 Crew members. Each 4 pack needs a Certified Faller to complete the crew. All individuals applying for a Type 2 Fire Crew must be minimum 19 years of age and have minimum 17 active fire line days in the past 3 years to qualify.

All Type 2 Crew members including fallers are required to complete a WFX Fitness test components can be found at CIFFC
Fallers on Type 2 Crews have an hourly “Deployed rate” and an hourly “Standby rate”. Crew Members/Leaders will be paid “Ticket Top Ups” as per designated ticket (Advanced First Aid, DTA, BCO, QF). A pay schedule will be discussed during the hiring process or upon request.

Most Firefighters prefer a light hiker, composite hard toe is okay, steel toe is not recommended. Some good boot brands are Canada West, Scarpa, Asolo, Zamblerlan, Viberg.
