START YOUR WILDLAND FIREFIGHTING CAREER WITH LAYN WILDFIRE
The S-100A is an annual refresher for firefighters who have already completed the S-100 and S-185. This course is completed online on your own time. You can request an S-100A refresher from Jill at [email protected]. Cost will be $20 +GST and can be payable by e-transfer.
Every spring Layn Wildfire will put on training courses that consist of an in-class day
and a field day to cover the S-100/ S-185. The training will also cover the following:

This course needs to be booked with an external company/ instructor and takes 2 days to complete. Costs are subject to change/ different depending on location and company.
(Formerly OFA 2 + TE)
This course needs to be looked with an external company/ instructor and takes 3 days total to complete. Costs are subject to change/ different depending on location and company.
(Formerly OFA 3)
This is a 2 week course and needs to be booked with an external company/ instructor. Costs are subject to change depending on location and company.
This is a 2-day course, in the field and will be for Layn employees. Location and schedule to be released at a later date. This course is also sometimes referred to as “PSO” (Power Saw Operator)
This is a 2-day course put on by University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) at various locations around B.C. The only DTA module that BCWS recognizes is the Wildfire Module. The Harvest and Parks Modules are not accepted. Please note that if you are a rookie firefighter you do not qualify for this course as you need fire hours to be accepted. Costs are subject to change and can be found on the UNBC website.

April). As well as from 5am-10pm, 7 days a week in the peak season (May-September)
